Sonic C. Is Back And...

posted by GPS

If you were alive in 2009, it was damn near impossible to walk into a club and not hear Sonic C.’s “Stickin’”. This track has a Dutch House style build and drop immediately recognizable to anyone who heard at least some of it before. Of course, I do not mean the Sonic...

Snowball Music Festival 2012: Artists To Catch

posted by J. Pierce

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months and haven’t heard, SnowBall is back this year, with one of the sauciest, glitchiest and grooviest line-ups the Midwest has seen since the festival was born merely a year ago. SnowBall Music Festival is set in one the premier ski and board slopes of Vail Valley, Co., which may see blizzards of other powder during the first week of March, 4-6. The line-up schedule has yet to be posted, but we’ve put together a list of must-see artists (besides the likes of big guys Bassnectar, Snoop Dogg, Rusko, Major Lazer and TV on the Radio). Unfortunately, you can’t see...

Juke Ellington

posted by JeRK

Break out the track suit, high tops, fresh fade and bust that Juke. I’m talking about the dance genre known for intricate drum patterns, chopped up samples and fancy footwork. One of my favorite producers in the genre, Juke Ellington, has been killing it the past few weeks with tons of...

Paradise Lost – the only thing I lost was my mind, and paradise is what I found. Sleigh Bells and Diplo brought the noise to The Forum last Friday, kicking off their exclusive Florida tour right here in Gainesville, Fla.! The demographic of the crowd was oddly interesting, a synergy of...

Big Gigantic kicked off their 2012 tour in Tallanasty, hitting up four cities in Florida. Gainesville was the second on their list, and my god did they bring one hell of a show. Thanks to my boys over at Organic Vision, Gainesville was lucky enough to be one of those four stops. My glasses...

Daft Punk’s New Album Featuring Nile Rodgers

posted by Kat Bein

Holy shit. Holy shit. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Some kind of real confirmation that our favorite French robots, the best of the best in dance floor designer beats, the masters of all you know are back in the studio. I point you to this article from Houston’s Culture Map, in which Nile Rodgers, the man behind the funky sounds of 1970s disco/funk/soul outfit Chic, talks about beating cancer and getting ready for the ultimate come-back: teaming up with Daft Punk to work on their epicly long-awaited fourth album (because I guess Tron doesn’t count, even though I love that soundtrack,...

Perfectos – The End Of The World (Again)

posted by Alexander Klausner

If you want to be overly simplistic about things, there are two ideologies in today’s world of independent rock music: There is the camp that thinks the best way to catch ears is by creating a unique sound as an artist using every experimental trick in the book. Then there’s the camp that thinks all you need is a good, catchy song. That’s where Brenton Stanley, vocalist and guitarist of The Perfectos, falls. Sure, he’s got organs and pianos backing his traditional rock three-piece foundation, but that’s where the bells and whistles end. The Perfectos’ new seven-song EP, “The End Of The World...

Nadisko: The Hardest Type Of Disco

posted by GPS

Update! We got an exclusive free download from Nadisko themselves! Nadisko – Jurrassic (Original Mix) (right click and “Save As” to download!) Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Nadisko brings some serious heat to the table. With an interesting variety of sounds in their arsenal, Nadisko (consisting of members Alex and Blake) separate themselves from the usual by making “their” sound, well, various sounds. They seem to be known for their electro tracks, though they have made originals and remixes that show they aren’t afraid to experiment with new genres.
