FWP’S Top 5 Songs of August 2014
5. Riton - Dance With Me
Now, take a second to prepare yourselves for this one. Riton has just released an EP on Nest HQ, and it’s hella good. One of the tracks, “Dance with Moi,” is an electro, techno-infused, heavy hitter that will have you losing control of your body. You can download it for free, along with the rest of the EP right here.
4. Redinho - Playing With Fire
*Cue heavy breathing. So UK’s multi-instrumentalist Redinho has been working on an album for the past three years. A month ago, he dropped the first single off of it, “Playing with Fire,” and that immediately left us thirsty for more. The sex’d up tune is all sorts of funk, to include Redinho seducing us on the talkbox, groovy sythwork, and some sweet drum action. Listen below, and keep an eye out for its release September 22nd on Numbers.
3. DJ Antention – Hacker
Topping off the list of “when the hell is this producer going to make more music?” is DJ Antention. The god of thrash if back, bitches. While his music is usually more distorted and twisted, this new one, “Hacker,” seems largely influenced by songs such as Gessa’s “Pursuit” and the like. Regardless of where he got the inspiration for this, “Hacker” absolutely fucking bangs. Check his soundcloud for more new tunes. Be wary (or not), the other new ones will take your ear through a blender.
2. TOKiMONSTA - Steal my Attention
A few days ago, TOKiMONSTA decided to surprisingly leak a track off her upcoming Desiderium album, and oh man, are we glad she did. “Steal My Attention” is an emotional, vibey tune complete with a hypnotizing melody, beautifully pitched vocals, and a wobbly bassline. It’s a sweet concoction of R&B, deep house, and bass music that’s ready to please your soul.
1. Go Freek – Teh Way You Dance
Australia has been killin’ it lately, there’s no doubting that. One Aussie name you should definitely not stop keeping an eye on is Go Freek.
Go Freek first caught my ear with their remix of Bart B More’s “Jack” and again with their awesome remix of “Tight Threaded.” But enough about those, what you REALLLY need to hear is their latest original. “The Way You Dance” will make you dance in ways you didn’t know you could, and your body will be thankful for the workout.
Seriously, click play and go nuts.
