Bromance in the USA: Philadelphia, Washington DC & New York
Tuesday marked the final night of the Bromance Tour for label daddy Brodinski, along with label mates Louisahhh!!! and Myd & Sam Tiba from Club Cheval. Kicking things off in Mexico City and hitting seven other USA cities between there and New York, the crew made sure to give their fans a delicious taste of French tunes. The overwhelming amount of production and DJing skills distributed amongst the four artists paved the way for diverse and unique sets. For the crazies out there who attended more than one show – whoops – it was so cool to see how each performance was different from the one before.
I kicked off my Bromance adventure on Saturday at Morgan’s Pier, one of my favorite venues in Philadelphia. The outdoor, waterfront, and minimal lighting setting was on point for the evening’s show. Kicking the night off around 9:30 was Club Cheval, who went straight to business. Both were decked out in their fashion-forward outfits and attitude, and they definitely brought the heat as the night quickly escalated. Delivering a sexy, energetic, electronic and RnB filled set, they kept us wanting more.
Next up was the mysterious and beautiful Louisahhh!!! This girl has such a presence about her. Born in New York, then making the move to LA and eventually Paris, she quickly got settled at Bromance Records. Extremely talented and clothed in so much character and charisma, Louisahhh!!! is always someone I look forward to seeing perform. She kept the energy going with some dark tunes as the crowd thickened.
Around 12:30, I looked outside the front of the venue, and holy shit, there was a line down the block to get into Morgan’s Pier. The venue was packed as Brodinski took over the booth. Easily one of the best DJs there is, his set just hit so hard. After an exhausting first night of dancing and fun, I was more than ready to take on two more nights of the madness.
Sunday evening took me to our nation’s capital for another Bromance performance at one of the sweetest venues in Washington DC, U Street Music Hall. Opening this time around was Louisahhh!!!, who stayed true to her signature dark techno style. The small room consisted of some of the most faithful of Bromance fans.
Following Louisahhh!!! was Club Cheval. Keeping the set diverse and different from the night before, Myd and Sam kept the crowd dancing. I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen anybody dance as much as some of the people at this show. Unfortunately, couldn’t keep up with them (for shame).
Of all three nights, Brodinski’s performance at U Hall had to be my favorite. His energy was 110%, while he put his entire mind and body into that show. It was almost magical just watching him.
The crew had Monday off in DC, and they put that time to good use. Brodinski and Myd spent the day in the studio with Yung Gleesh, while Sam got down with Tittsworth. New music? Yes please!
The final night (*sad face) of the tour was at Output in New York. Of course it was fucking insane. This club had the best lighting and sound of all three venues. With a strict “no phone/no photos allowed” policy, attendees had no choice but to get lost in the music rather than social media. With Louisahhh!!! going on at 11:30, Brodinski folllowing around 1:00, and then Club Cheval closing out the night at 2:30, things got real wild. They even played a little bit past 4:00, even though the lights were on. Going out with a bang, Brodinski, Louisahhh!!!, and Club Cheval left their mark on America. After three nights of these French babes, it’s safe to say that these are some of the most talented fuckers out there.
Oh, and I still suck at speaking French. Time to start studying for next time…
Be sure to keep track of the Bromance crew, and check out Louisahhh!!! & Maelstrom’s Traces Deluxe Edition album that was just released this week below.
