GPS’ Top 5 Tunes Of July 2013

July’s Top Five consists of tunes ranging from the bangin’ energetic to the smoothest of smooth, from electro to disco. Read on and check ‘em out!

5. Bart B More – Saga [Beatport] If you’ve been looking for a high-energy monster, “Saga” easily fills that void. This song feels like it’s one massive build from beginning to end, you almost can’t tell when the energy is going to stop. Bart Describes “Saga” as taking “a disco house meets screaming synth-lines approach with big snare roll build-ups and weird twists.”

4. Strip Steve – One Thing (Jimmy Edgar Remix) [Beatport|itunes] This song lashes old-school disco bass lines in your face, commanding you to dance. Constant as it is smooth, the bass loops throughout almost the entire song, while the vocals and lyrics tie it together into something beautiful.

3. Tchami – Shot Caller [Free Download] Tchami blew me away with his debut release, which featured this track. This is a proper dance floor tune weird enough to take you out of your musical comfort zone, but still fun enough to dance to.

2. FAUL – Happy Endings
My favorite part of this song is how smoothly the sax leads in after the vocals. It takes you to an all-too-soothing chorus. The lyrics come from a soothing voice telling you to relax and not worry about your everyday troubles. This song is definitely made to give your ears a happy ending after.

1. Soulmagic – Someone Like You [Beatport|iTunes] The name of both the artist and song should give you a solid idea of what to expect. The titular vocals of this song are repeated throughout, as it is accompanied by a smooth groove, clean piano, clean melody and raw-sounding drums. Definitely a great feel-good song for this summer season.
