Destructo: Higher EP
HARD head honcho Gary Richards is a busy man. He is the man behind incredible events including Hard Summer and Holy Ship! All that takes a lot of work, and who knows what he has time to do in his off hours.
Oh wait, he can make super dope music under his DJ/producer moniker Destructo. The latest batch of tunes from him? His new EP Higher.

Notably heard during Dog Blood’s sets at Ultra and Coachella, the title track “Higher” has a wonky, weird sound, akin to Dirtybird. It’s a downright fun tune that keeps you listening with it’s randomness.
This release comes with two remixes for “Higher” by the ever-bromantic Brodinski and the crazy-haired Tommy Trash. Brodinski’s remix has all the dark and spooky techno you desire, with a super nice touch of trap on the breakdowns (cue rolling hi-hats and massive sub bass). Tommy Trash’s remix is, of course, trashy in the best way, with a stutter-y synth and bangin’ kick.
The other original is “2112,” a perfect song for the summer. We first heard on the promo video for Holy Ship’s new cruise ship. The catchy rhythm of the song is contant nearly through the whole song. And it’s just the right amount of repetitious and catchy even though this tune is long, clocking in at just over seven minutes. Hell, it even has a touch of cowbell!
Keep it classy, Destructo.
