Austin Paul: Velvet EP
Envelop yourself in the smooth music of Austin Paul.
According to a press release, Austin was raised in a strictly Christian household right here in Miami. He taught himself to play piano a decade ago at the age of 10, Austin developed a musical taste and style that will relax any listener. Hints of John Legend come through in his soulful vocals backed by music reminiscent of deep, eloquent artists like James Blake and Burial.
His music touches on themes from his religious background and the realities freedom that came from moving out more than a year ago. All these concepts come shining through on his debut EP: Velvet. This five-track release is to be followed by two more in the summer, which I can’t wait to here. His work has already received the support from Kastle, N.E.R.D. and Pharrell, who has referred to Paul as simply “the future of music.”
This music is definitely for the thinker and not so much the dancer. Music that reflects the life of it’s maker is, personally, one of the purest forms of music and expression. A true artist, Austin Paul consciously takes the listener through a journey celebrating life’s constant and common denominator: “the moment.”

If you’re in south Florida Thursday, be sure to catch him at Bardot. He’s performing an opening set for the future-sounds of Kastle, who featured Austin’s vocals on three tracks from his self-titled album, as well as some production work on the track “Stay Close.” The event doubles as the official release party for Velvet, so don’t miss it!
Tickets are available online for $15 to $22 in advance.
