FWP’s Guide To Miami Music Week 2013

FWP’s Guide To Miami Music Week 2013

We’ve already experienced a glimpse of what Miami Music Week has to offer, with Big Gigantic, GRiZ and heRobust rippin’ Grand Central a new one to Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs layin’ down the groovin’ house and chillin’ everyone’s glasses at Bardot.

But it was only the beginning.

We decided to take a well-needed rest on Monday to deliver the goods for what is to come the rest of the week. I’ll stop bullshitting and get to what you really want.

But when you throw in Bromance’s Brodinski and Gesaffelstein (the man in suits), there’s no telling how hard this night will go.

Age: 21 and up
Featured Labels: WeDidIt, Body High, Smog, Bromance, BNR, Fool’s Gold, Mad Decent, OWSLA

Eight top-labels in eight hours? This is not your typical pool party. Instead of announcing artists, the geniuses over at OWSLA had a better idea: pool party featuring the labels. We don’t know who’s playing, but these labels are the home to 100s of our favorite artists.

If you are not familiar, here are some of the heavy-hitters from each label.

WeDidIt: Shlohmo, RL Grime, Cults
Body High: Samo Sound Boy, Jerome LOL, DJ Sliink
Smog: 12th Planet, Flinch, Noah D
Bromance: Brodinski and Gesaffelstein; G. Vump and Pipes
Boys Noize Records: Boys Noize, D.I.M., BS1
Fool’s Gold: A-Trak, Flosstradamus, Danny Brown
Mad Decent: Diplo, Dillon Francis, Crookers
OWSLA: Dog Blood, The M Machine, Birdy Nam Nam

And it’s not just a party, it’s an opportunity to network and meet some of the head-honchos in the scene. Now this doesn’t mean show up with a resume and to suck some dicks, but be on your A-game if this is what you want to do.

Oh and a special Skrillex and Diplo b2b set. Should get saucy.

Line-up: Break Science, Keys’N’Krates, BEATMACHINES, STYLIST BEATS, WARP9

As seasoned producers and touring veterans, Break Science evokes a wide spectrum of electronic genres filtered through a musician’s lens, all while moving people spiritually and on the dance floor. Keys N Krates started mainly as a live act doing live re-works of rap and house tunes, the group eventually moved into making their own beats and translating those into their live show. The result? A blend of rap beats, trap and electronic music played live before your very eyes. This should be an awesome show, a great alternative if you didn’t grab your Hard Day 1 tickets before selling out.

They just can’t list their name because of the Ultra Music Festival exclusivity contracts that no one actually abides by. This party is looking like a lot of hip-hop and electro grooves, so get ready to shake your rump. Hoods up!

Headlining the night is Zeds Dead, so you know you are going to top this event off with a bang. But with the secret special guests (which was Annie Mac last year), you never know!
