Destructo in Miami Saturday: His and Hers
Miami is not hurting for hot nightlife, but that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down at all either.
Poplife, the good people behind most of the kick-ass shows at our 305 favorite Grand Central, have a new weekly gig going on, and they’re starting off with a bang. It’s called His and Hers, and last week they had new local group Kodiak Furs break it in.
This Saturday, Feb. 23, there’ll be nothing left, because Destructo is coming to make his Garrett debut (697 N. Miami Ave.). Yes, the man, the myth, the legend. Nee Gary Richards, he’s the head of HARD Music, who happen to be the tightest event-throwing company in the world – biased opinion.
But yo, he’s not just a world-class tastemaker. He’s been in the music game since the ‘90s, working decks and checking fools, keeping them up to date on the hottest sounds of the street. And he makes records fly enough to freak a speaker in two, definitely to have you moving through the whole night.
Look, we’ll give you a quick lesson. Peep the track “Stand Still,” a hypnotic, robotic groove that’ll have you doing anything but. Next is “Technology” with a fuzzy hook and driving beat you should recognize. Then, check his collab with disco-twins Oliver, “LA Funky.” You should recognize it from the innaugural Holy Ship! video recap.
If for some reason you’re not bought and sold – wait, there’s more. His and Hers is a FREE PARTY. Yeah, there’s no cover charge at the door. But it’s a smaller, intimate venue, so make sure you get there early. Added bonus: Free drinks until midnight. RSVP for entry here.
Thanks Poplife, you’re the best.
And just for funsies, here’s a recording of his set with Brodinski from the holiest of cruises, Holy Ship!!
