Gainesville Fashion Week 2012 Kicks Off Wednesday

Gainesville Fashion Week 2012

Gainesville Fashion Week 2012Attention all fashionistas, trend-setters, taste makers and beautiful people: Gainesville Fashion Week is back!

Last year’s GFW was so hot it was down-right steamy, and this year’s fifth-annual event is set to burn bright straight through the weekend. It’s going to be five days of sexy soirees, booze schmoozing and duh, tons of awesome and fresh designs, all set to some of the best music Gainesville has to offer.

It all kicks off Wednesday night, April 11, at Villa East in downtown for a red carpet art show. Come see the works of more than 40 local artists, including six who’ll be doing their thing live before your very eyes – so don’t get super wasted, okay?!

John Jordan and Blaise James will provide some musical entertainment, and seeing as how you’re sure to come dressed to impress, make good use of the Phobooth they’ll have set up (they come with props! We love them).

And even if you miss the red carpet, you can still get down and dirty with the sexy people as they make their way to Spannk and Speakeasy for the official kick-off after-party.

If you survive the night (c’mon, it’s only the first one), Thursday is Insite’s Music and Fashion night, featuring runway shows at 7:30 from The 1oz Project, Levels Boutique, Solutions Bridal, Macy’s, and Francine Elizabeth. Don’t miss a special headlining show Laura Kathleen of the 9th series of Project Runway.

Friday, you can catch Sironna Swimwear, Rent the Runway and AJNEL designs, and don’t miss a set from one of our fave local acts, Savants of Soul.

Saturday is just the height of excitement with designs from AJNEL designs, Whitley Denise, Zella Machado, Leemari Designs, Jacquelyn Brooks Designs, Southern Frock, and Headlining designer Mikho Resort by Miguel Blanco.

And Sunday closes out the week with a special trunk show featuring looks and goodies from the crew, as well as a fabulous award ceremony at 3 p.m.

Okay, did you get all that? Well, don’t worry, it will be much easier to experience than memorize, and FWP is going to be all over this bitch with a camera and more attitude than should be allowed.

Grab your tickets now for the events you just can’t miss, and see you at the after parties!
