Frauke Thielking’s Photographs
Frauke Thielking likes to put people in awkward positions. Though I don’t profess to know much about her, I do know she hails from Lübbecke, Germany, likes to be called Flauke, and her photographs speak to me. I get a sense of status quo and uniformity from her photographs, but at the same time, what the subjects are doing is so absurd. In each photograph there are subtle hidden elements that speak to the absurdity of it all. Her work is colorful and provocative and just a little bit awkward. We like it.
