The Young And The Rest-Of-Us: Controls And Corrupted DatA
It’s no secret just about anyone these days can get their hands on a copy of *insert favorite software here* and begin tinkering around in music production. What sets good producers apart from the rest is the steep learning curve within most Digital Audio Workstations (DAW), and you must have some knowledge of music theory.
What scares the absolute shit out of me is how creative some young-ins are getting within their software. Case and point; I bring you two different artists, both of whom are only 16 years old.
First up, we got Controls from Birmingham, Al. Barely old enough to drive a car but old enough to rock the party. His bio claims he is from the future, the year 30xx to be exact. He tells us he is here to save the human race from grave danger and stop the revolution. I don’t question the validity of his statements, his music sounds futuristic enoguh. This is some dirty, dirty electro goodness. First check out We Wobble Like This. Nice banging, driving bassline.
Also, check out his remix of Two Door Cinema Club’s “What you Know”, which is by far the best mix I have heard of this tune.
Next up we got Corrupted Data, out of L.A. Two young teenagers with a laptop and a dream. I dont know much about the duo, as I just stumbled across them on soundcloud, but let me tell you their tracks are absolute fire. Heavy, bleepy synths, and plenty-o-bass. I’ll shut up now and let the music do the talking.
